Sting Newz service: The second year of the Poet Zainul Abedin Memorial Award ceremony was held at the seminar hall of the Krishnanagar Museum in Nadia. The event also included the publication of a literary magazine. A poetry conference was part of the celebration as well. It was organized by Kavyakantha literary magazine. The event turned into a grand gathering of literary enthusiasts.

The program commenced at 2:30 PM with a garlanding of the portrait of former Prime Minister and poet Zainul Abedin, followed by the lighting of a ceremonial lamp. The inaugural session was graced by renowned author Ansaruddin. Distinguished attendees included Professor and essayist Dr. Debnarayan Modak, poet and children’s writer Shyamaprasad Ghosh, poet Ramprasad Mukhopadhyay, Professor and essayist Dr. Debjani Bhowmik Chakraborty, and poet-editor Niladri Sekhar Sarkar.

The event began with a welcome speech by Kavyakantha editor Din Mohammad Sheikh. A special issue dedicated to the late poet Zainul Abedin was released on this occasion. The “Poet Zainul Abedin Memorial Award 2024” was presented to eminent poet, artist, and essayist Johnson Sandeep. The launch of his poetry collection, Christmas-er Chumu (The Kiss of Christmas), was one of the event’s highlights.

Several poets recited their original compositions, while folk singer Nandan and Jari artist Azimuddin Mondal performed music, enlivening the atmosphere.

Notable attendees included poets Dilip Dutta, Ranjana Basu, Ekabul Sheikh, Serena Khan, Hazrat Ali, Sanjit Dutta, young poet Selim Sheikh, Mohaddes Sheikh, and Muktadir Hossain, among nearly fifty poets and writers from across the district.

The entire event was conducted by poet and artist Sadhan Patra. This remarkable gathering is expected to leave a lasting mark on Nadia’s literary history.
