Samiran Biswas, Sting Newz Correspondent, Tehatta: In a unique effort to promote river conservation and raise awareness about the importance of preserving water resources, a kayak expedition was launched today. Environmental activists embarked on a special journey along the Jalangi River, starting from Palashipara Ghat and heading toward Krishnanagar Bisarjan Ghat. This four-day expedition aims to spread the message of saving the Jalangi River and will conclude on October 25 in Krishnanagar.

The initiative is a collaborative effort by three organizations: “Save Jalangi,” the “Indian Mountaineering Foundation,” and “Himalayan Footprint.” The program, titled “Paddles for a Cause: Reviving Jalangi, Reviving Life,” seeks to draw attention to the urgent need for river conservation and water resource management.

Dr. Jatan Ray Chowdhury, president of Save Jalangi, shared that the expedition will include evening meetings at four key locations along the river—Chanderghat, Bara Andulia, Chapra, and Krishnanagar. These gatherings will engage the local communities in discussions about the environmental significance of the Jalangi River and the need to revive it for future generations.

The initiative has sparked excitement among the locals, who are eager to learn more about the importance of water conservation and protecting their rivers. The public meetings are expected to play a key role in fostering a deeper understanding of these critical issues, marking an important step forward in preserving natural resources for the future.
