The main objective of this event was to provide a vibrant interface between the citizens and the rich culture & tradition of West Bengal.
The event drew thousands of devotees virtually, who witnessed the annual ritual – the burning of an effigy of demon king Ravan. Amid the Covid-19 pandemic and restrictions against public gatherings, the event held its annual Dussehra virtually this year.
Speaking about the event, Lalit Beriwala, President of Salt Lake Sanskritik Sansad said, “We had been allowed to hold celebrations but asked to do everything in a simple manner. We geared up for burning the effigy of Ravana on Dussehra, where only executive members of the committee remained present and for public there was live telecast of the entire function. We burnt the effigy of Ravana, Meghnad and Kumbhakaran and prayed to God that coronavirus also gets burnt in fire. This disease has damaged everything, so this Dussehra will hopefully mark victory of good over evil as well as this deadly disease..”
