Nabendu Bhattacharya, Sting Newz Correspondent, Nakashipara ( Nadia) : Raising the memory of dog – killing at NRS Hospital hostel, another incident came to light and this time it is in Nadia. About nine street dogs were found lying dead here and there at Khidirpur Purbapara village under Nakashipara police station area in Nadia on Tuesday morning. Allegedly some unidentified miscreants fed the domestic animals poison on Monday night with food, with bad intention. Police said,” We have recovered the nine carcasses of dogs and sent for autopsy. We will scrutinize the local CCTV footage for investigation.” The locals of the Purbapara stated that some of the street dogs get food from homes. A few of the dogs went unseen after 9 pm.on Monday. A person said, ” A dog used to appear at our home during dinner and we would provide its food everyday. But it didn’t appear last night.” Another a few stated that after 10 pm. on Monday, they didn’t see any street dogs. A local female said, ” Some miscreants fed them poison with meat and biscuits and killed nine dogs.” Anup Kumar Mondal, another resident said,” The dead dogs were lying scatterely along a Km. long. There is a conspiracy. We demand probe and punishment of culprits.” The carcasses were lying on various places of roads, fields and in bushes in between Khidirpur Primary School to ‘Chowrasta’, a stretch of about 1 Km.When the local residents found the pathetic happenings, contacted local Panchayat members Ratan Roy. Roy moved to Nakashipara police station with some locals and informed police. Soon the police rushed the spot.The cops recovered carcasses of street dogs. It also collected the poison packets lying heither and theither at that locality. Police assured the angry people an investigation. The villagers stated that a robbery had taken place earlier in 2000. Before that big dacoity at Khidirpur area, some dogs were killed in the same way.The residents suspect, the killing of dogs, is the preparation of another big robbery.However, police stated that it recovered nine carcasses of dogs. ” The carcasses were sent to Bethuadahari Vetenery Hospital for autopsy. We also will scrutinize the local CCTV footage for investigation,” a police officer said.
